We talked earlier about hiring a bus??
We can share ideas tomorrow evening
Also in May there is an interesting workshop on Story led by Frank Naughton.

The Rare Auld Times - John Sheahan – 80th Birthday Concert Celebration.

The Rare Auld Times - John Sheahan - 80th Birthday Celebration.

I watched this on TG4 a couple of nights back and very enjoyable it was. Something for the St. Patrick's Day weekend with Imelda May on vocals. Written by Pete St. John (1932 - 2022) it is a fine piece of songwriting and a fine piece of poetry as well. John Sheahan is the last of the original 'Dubliners who were a world wide phenomenon, from a city where there was no shortage of such and just a few left now. But the same is true in every village in Ireland. The characters are gone. That said, after Cheltenham and the Rugby it was some weekend. John Sheahan is a musician, composer and poet. Imelda is one fine singer. To Youtube for the comments on both. Enjoy! Loaded by the Dubliners and with thanks.

St. Patrick's Day a poem by Jean Blewett.

St Patrick's Day Poem by Jean Blewett.

Looking for something to post to mark the occasion proved more than a little difficult as most of what's out there is not great and that's being kind. But maybe it's me. Anyway I came across this poem by the Canadian poet Jean Blewett (1862 - 1934) who is someone I would not be familiar with and settled for it because the sentiment seemed genuine. St Patrick's Day is now celebrated around the world and gives our politicians the opportunity to broaden their horizons while our own citizens watch the celebrations in overcoats both inside and out. What can you say? Posted by 'jeanakedpoetry' and read by Jean Aked and with thanks. Go to Wikipedia for info on Jean Blewett.

Lauren Honours Elizabeth Stanton. The Speech of 1861. The Destructive Male.

Lauren honours Elizabeth Cady Stanton. The Speech of 1861. The Destructive Male.
For International Women's Day. (Yesterday)

Okay so a day late but here's an interesting one. I don't know who Lauren is but well done Lauren. I came across this speech a very long time ago and if you're not familiar with Elizabeth Cady Stanton then look her up. One of the great feminists of the nineteenth or any other century. But hey listen to the speech and was she right or did she miss some essential and if she did have those who came after her the blame? Loaded by Gecko Prince and with thanks.

The Meath Writers' Circle ~ March 2023!

The Meath Writers' Circle ~ March 2023.

Careless of me to let it slip but a timely reminder (just) of tonight's meeting in Navan Library at 7 pm where all are welcome.  The prompt for tonight was the life of St. Brigid but anything you want to read will be appreciated. Hope to see you there!
