Written in the Stars/Poetry Day Ireland!

Written in the Stars/Poetry Day Ireland!

A reminder from Jim Owens that tomorrow is Poetry Day Ireland ~ Theme ~ Written in the Stars. Well day early here goes. This one I wrote a number of years back and it sort of came true.

 Flat Calm

Twiddling the knob
On the radio
Listening to weather
Reports
Sea areas
At.

Scatterings of noise
And traffic
Flat calm
A corpse bobbing
On the ocean
The seismic
Shifts.

Nuances,
The general synopsis
At.

Listening, to
The ebb and flow
Of tides
Lapping on the shorelines
Waiting, for
The tramp of feet.

An Tobar ~ Poetry for Pleasure!

An Tobar ~ Poetry for Pleasure!

Friends,

Greetings
Hope you had a good Easter and continue to enjoy the rest of Easter week.

Our next poetry session is on Tues 26th April in An Tobar at 7.30pm.
First part of the meeting we are delighted to welcome  Kathleen Miggin who will read some of her own poems.  Thanks to James McConnell for organizing the invitation to Kathleen.
For the last part of the meeting we will continue with our theme on the poetry and life of  Patrick  Kavanagh
We had a great visit to the Kavanagh  centre and to his grave and that of his wife Katherine Barry Moloney on 26yh March.
Some people for various reasons were not able to make it so we will share some experiences of the visit.
See picture below of the Kavanagh homestead at present. (*) We understand that the poet's grand nephew lives there now. It is not open to the public.
Carol Owens brought a  most interesting article by the poet and novelist Dermot Bulger to our attention.
It tells the story of a refugee family from Ukraine to Ireland during the second world war.
