I was given a copy of "The Yellow Bittern" yesterday by a former member of The Meath Writers' Circle who described it as a brilliant translation from the Gaelic by Thomas Mac Donagh who was a teacher in Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary and one of the signatories of the 1916 Proclamation. He also informed me that it is now banned from our school text books for health and safety reasons! And they all with smart phones!!!
