Verona Pentony reciting her poem, "Fr. Joseph Mallin" at The Mansion House, Dublin as a guest of the Mallin family on September the 28th 2017 and then on the 1st of October at the unveiling of the plaque at number 105 Ceannt Fort, Kilmainham. Michael Mallin and his wife Agnes lived there but it is now owned by a Mrs Dowling. Michael Mallin was executed on the 8th of May 1916. His son Fr. Joseph Mallin is now aged 104 and lives in Hong Kong.

Verona Pentony Interview with Colm Colgan

Verona Pentony, secretary of The Meath Writers' Circle reflects on what influences or inspires her. Her poem, "A Single Black Cross" in memory of Commandant Michael Mallin, who was executed for his part in the 1916 Rising is included in their recent anthology, "Centenary in Poetry and Prose". This was launched in The Trim Castle Hotel on Thursday the 3rd of March.
