Joan Rattigan and Peggy Murphy |
A large crowd turned out on Friday night last in Fergie's of Kilmessan for the launch of Peggy Murphy's DVD collection of poems and stories with contributions in song, storytelling, poetry and humour and just being there. Paul Hennessy did the honours for the launch and entertained everyone with his fine collection of music and ballads and a voice that just has to be heard. But there were others and John Byrne proved that when it comes to humour and stand up he can hold his own but we won't milk that one any further! Donie Clynch of Dunsany was also on hand and I managed to record a few videos myself that I should be able to load in the future, with a bit of luck! Carmel Murray and Willie G. Hodgins of The Meath Writers' Circle recited a poem or two and then one together and I managed to resist the baying of the mob and only recited an "Encore". Fr. Toner said a few words as did Michael Murphy and Michael Kearney of Kilmessan sang a few of his favourite songs. So with thanks to everyone who came and the staff in Fergie's for their help and not forgetting Ferfie himself. .
