The Meath Writers' Circle.
The Meath Writers' Circle held their monthly meeting at The Castle Hotel in Trim tonight with about nine in attendance. Must be the warm summer evenings as a few had gone walkabout, but not withstanding the above, it was an interesting mix of both traditional and modern verse with Pat Bennet reading a fine poem called "A Place For Us" while Isobel read a lovely piece called "No Need" about children leaving home. Jimmy Peppard then entertained us with some of his fine ballads, and Jimmy knows how to write ballads, while there was even a mention or two of something called The Battle of The Books. Tommy Murray read his poem called "The Yeti" which is published in this months' edition of "Riposte" the poetry broadsheet, and well worth a look. The next meeting is something of a rehearsal and is on Friday the 18th of June, and before I go there are poetry readings in both Athboy and Kells. See Meath Writers' Circle website for details of above where info is sure to be posted.

Hi Frank, how do you get in touch with riposte or how do you get a copy of it?
Hi Orla, your own page is at the top of the links and if you work down from there just under Poetry Ireland you'll see the link for Riposte and the details are there, except that the subscription fee is now €15 for the year. Comes out every month. (10 months)
Good luck with that.

Thanks a mill Frank :)
I have to tell you that just looking at the comfortable surroundings where you meet makes me a little homesick! I now live and write fiction in Thailand. I remember the days before the internet took over when a small announcement in the local paper was great news for our circle. Wishing you all much success and enjoyment.
Show one's gratitude you very much exchange for the improve forum. I highbrow a luck and got to be acquainted with the spot on with interesting people. I'll be a ordinary visitor.
