Reading a newspaper columnist on the passing of one of America's great singer-songwriters and poets, the  event was described not so much as the end of an era but the end of an idea. (Almost). There's been so much written in the past couple of days about Sinéad and her musical talents and beliefs and by those who didn't support her one way or the other but she was never afraid to express them whether you agreed with her or not. Few artists today will do that and Kris Kristofferson's tribute above was in the face of a hostile crowd. Who else would have done that? W.B. Yeats, Van Morrisson, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie etc. The awful silence of the rest....

Willie Nelson & Kris Kristofferson - Casey's Last Ride

Indulging myself with an old favourite. Believe it was written or has some influence from the time  he spent at Oxford University and must be about the only time a reference to the London Underground made it onto a country album. But Kristofferson is one fine poet. Many versions on Youtube but Willie Nelson is perhaps the finest country singer out there. Posted by "Mostly Brenda" and with thanks for the share button.
