Where The Crawdads Sing.
Nominated for a host of awards including an Oscar for the above by Taylor Swift, 'Where The Crawdads Sing' tells the story of a girl who abandoned by her parents raises herself in the Marshlands of North Carolina. Panned by any number of critics it went on to become a box office success and the performance by Daisy Edgar-Jones and the cinematography are not easily forgotten. Based on the novel by Delia Owens and drawn perhaps on some of her own experience it has a charm all of its own. Attuned to the wilderness she inhabits and to the natural order, the complexities of human relationships play out and centre round her understanding of prey and predator and that is perhaps something the critics missed. Personally it brings to mind ' To Kill a Mockingbird' or ' The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia'. Though you could argue that in the above you can see the end coming. Those Southern girls! Enjoy.
