An Anthology of 'Grit Lit' incited by the music and lyrics of Willie Nelson and part of a series inspired or influenced by the writings of some of America's great folk and musical heroes. Writings that focus on the gritty realism of the working class and draw on the reflections of those for whom that soundtrack is a backdrop to lives where the heroic is simply survival. Some lovely writing here but the house on the hill is on other avenues and a dream of childhood that's not coming true. Read and read again and a particular favourite was Dayna Copeland's 'Once In A Lifetime' but there were others ....
