American singer-songwriters have taken the contemporary or traditional ballad to a whole new level (or art form) and it's hard to understand why more of them didn't receive the Nobel prize for doing so and I know we've got a few of our own! The trouble with free verse or modern poetry is not just that nobody will buy it, nobody will remember it no matter how well crafted and in one hundred years from now most of it will be forgotten.
