Rutger Hauer starred in a great many films but his improvisation on the end script in this scene would take him into the cinema classics. What makes a film great is open to many interpretations, and all valid I'm sure but I would say character ranks highest and Roy Batty is there with the best. There are a number of different "cuts" out there and if you haven't seen it give yourself a treat.
