Over twenty people turned out on Thursday night for a talk by Paul Kerr on the history and details of what remains of the old Packhorse or seven arch bridge over the Knightsbrook river which is just up the road from Scurlogstown. A lot of the vegetation and growth that obscured it has now been removed and what is an important part the local heritage of the area is now visible and can be preserved for future generations and perhaps further enhanced. Something of the history of this type of construction can be found over on Wikipedeia and other sites and is worth a read through to get an idea of how important this bridge must have been to commerce in the Trim area. The road or pathway that crossed the bridge equally so but perhaps long forgotten.
